Z0 was conceived as a counterpoint. A place to return to what matters: the body unwinding, the table gathering people together, the night falling over the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas. A stay that changes, subtly, the way one sees things.

Z stands for Zriouil.
Adil, Nasser and Bachir — three brothers born in the region, rooted in this land since childhood. And their father, Abdellah Zriouil, an entrepreneur anchored in Tahannaout, who saw in this estate not an investment but a homecoming. And their mother, Malika Boutserrit, who brought into these walls what architects cannot draw: the warmth of a lived-in home, the care of detail, the presence of sincere hospitality.
Z0 is their home. It carries their name, their history, their desire to share what they hold most precious — a place, a landscape, a way of being here.
Every space was conceived, chosen and willed by the family. Not by a hotel group, not by an international design firm. By people who live here, who know the scent of almond blossom and the exact temperature at which to drink tea facing the summits.
Zero as the absolute silence that precedes everything. As decompression, benevolent emptiness, return to the essential. You arrive at Z0 laden — with meetings, screens, lists. You leave differently: slower, lighter, more present.
But zero is also the first. Z0 is the first of a broader ambition: to create other Z places, other estates carrying the same exigence, the same soul, the same way of conceiving hospitality. A number that is a promise — that this house is not an end, but a beginning.
"I grew up between Marrakech and the mountains. I have always known that this country hides, far from the tourist routes, places of silent beauty — places where time stretches and breathing comes differently. Z0 is my way of sharing that.
We could have built something larger, more visible, more bankable. We chose to build something right. Ten suites because that is the right size — enough for a group to feel alone in the world, not enough for it to become a machine.
Z0's ambition is to prove that authentic hospitality is possible here, in this little-known region, with local materials, local craftspeople, a cuisine rooted in the Atlas terroir. And if it works — and it will — other Zs will be born, elsewhere in Morocco, different but carrying the same exigence."

Mariam Herdam designed Z0 as a house that breathes. No ostentation, no gratuitous gestures — an architecture that steps aside before the landscape in order to better inhabit it. Volumes are articulated around light, never against it. Openings frame the mountain as one hangs a painting.
The choice is one of restraint: clean lines, local materials worked with care, a chromatic palette borrowed from the earth of Tahannaout. Regional stone, raw concrete, traditional pisé — materials that age well, that speak of the place rather than betray it. Their tactile character grounds guests in the soil of Tahannaout; open volumes and natural light shape a warm atmosphere, without excess.
Z0 is more than its suites. The estate extends across ten unbroken hectares — gardens, orchards, indoor and outdoor living spaces conceived so a group can gather or scatter according to the hour and the mood.
The heart of the house. A large lounge open to the gardens, a convivial kitchen where everyone naturally gathers, a bar. And the ten suites — arranged around interior courtyards, each one different, none interchangeable.
Nestled at the heart of the gardens, the main pool is a world of its own. Hedgerows, fountains, irrigation channels running between the stones — all arranged around a generous basin and several outdoor lounges.
More intimate, heated to 28°C year-round, the infinity pool offers a direct view over the High Atlas ridgelines — in a more secluded atmosphere. Ideal in the cool hours of morning or under the stars in the evening.
An independent pavilion housing the Technogym room and a sauna with mountain views. It also includes additional bedrooms with their own private lounge.
Two open-air hammams — a traditional Moroccan hammam in tadelakt with kessala ritual, and a dry Swedish hammam. Both can be reserved exclusively on request.
